Frozen Strawberries
When I first started this blog, I had no experience with food photography. I took some photo classes in art school and I guess I thought general photo skills were enough and if I just took a picture of the plate from above, that would be good. But its not that easy. Food photography, I have found out, is a lot more difficult. You have to get right in there so people can get a good view of the food. The focus has to be sharp, the lighting has to be good and the perspective and background should be interesting but not distracting.

One of my first food photography attempts of a plate of chicken tacos with Spanish rice.

A newer photograph of pissaladiere with better lighting, focus and use of perspective.
By getting more involved with the online world of food, I became exposed to the world of food porn. The phrase turned me off at first and I felt it indicated a certain amount of pretentiousness due to the sarcasm implied in the term. But, people like to look at pretty pictures more then ugly, poorly lit ones, so here I am, officially embracing food porn with all my might.
I feel as though I've come a long way in the past four months, so I wanted to celebrate by making a slide show of my best food pr0ns to date.
